Different Levels of Senior Living
Not sure what your parent needs? Most families aren't.
Here's the short version, and I'll help you sort out the rest.
Independent Living
For a parent who's managing fine but is lonely, or tired of cooking and keeping up a house. Apartment living with meals, housekeeping and activities. No personal care.
Assisted Living
For a parent who needs help with bathing, dressing or medications but still wants their own apartment and a social life. Staff are available around the clock.
Board and Care Homes
Small, licensed homes, usually six residents, in regular neighborhoods. For a parent who does better with a quiet home and familiar faces than with a big building. Often much less expensive, and rarely found online. I know many of them personally.
Memory Care
For a parent with Alzheimer's or dementia who is wandering, getting confused, or no longer safe alone. Secure setting, specially trained staff, and a calm daily routine.
Skilled Nursing
For a parent who needs medical care every day, or rehab after a hospital stay. Licensed nurses on duty 24/7.
Short Stays & Respite
For when you need a break, or your parent needs somewhere safe while recovering. Many communities offer stays of a few weeks.
Still not sure? That's exactly what I'm here for.
